RESPONSIBILITIES
- Perform prescribed, routine maintenance procedures on supermarket refrigeration systems and self-contained temperature-controlled merchandisers
- Operating knowledge of self-contained refrigeration, heating and air conditioning units
- Demonstrate an understanding and adherence to all work safety policies and procedures including OSHA and any local authorities governing requirements
- Perform lockout-tagout procedure
- Diagnose refrigeration systems and perform necessary repairs at a basic level
- Repair leaks on racks or single-unit piping, braze with copper-to-brass and copper to steel, demonstrate the use of nitrogen while brazing
- Check and set superheat on all types of TXVs
- Replace defrost heating elements
- Design and install PVC drainpipe
- Use and calibrate temperature and pressure meters transducers and sensors
- Receive, uncrate and properly hang blower coils, fabricate hangers, struts and supports, for hanging copper tube drain lines
- Locate and repair refrigeration leaks
- Clean air-cooled condensing systems
- Diagnose sub-cooling performance and repair/replace components (if required)
- Complete necessary documents (work tickets and time sheets) and electronic communication in a thorough, accurate and timely manner
- Utilize a hand-held computer to complete necessary customer paperwork and invoicing requirements
- Maintain and manage truck inventory in an accurate, neat and orderly manner as well as adhere to vehicle maintenance program guidelines (if applicable)
- Access system settings and history logs in the system controller
- Diagnose and replace a failing I/O board
- Read a store legend and apply it to the system
REQUIREMENTS
- High school degree or equivalent required (or 10 years trade experience); technical diploma preferred
- 0-5 years’ experience
- Strong mechanical aptitude skills
- Knowledge of refrigeration, electrical and microprocessor control systems (supermarket experience preferred
- Knowledge of single systems, parallel racks systems, display cases and walk-in boxes
- EPA certification
- Driver’s license appropriate to local requirements and a safe driving record
- Physically able to climb ladders and to lift objects up to fifty pounds
