Senior IT Architect – Business Intelligence Data Warehouse & Reporting

This position is responsible for design and maintenance of Data Warehouse & Reporting, structures, data management, various DataMart’s, business rules, various dashboards, scoreboards, and other solutions to fulfill business intelligence requests. The Power BI Architect will work closely with different department leaders to design, develop and support business intelligence reports, scorecards, data structures, and dashboards.

  • Leads in the design of the technical and information architecture for the data warehouse, proposing holistic innovative solutions from a working comprehension of the ‘as-is ‘functionality across the enterprise.  This extends to all information structures (staging area, data lake, data marts, and operational data stores).
  • Participate in development and maintenance of the database architecture and recommend solutions to business needs including creating structure where none exists for reporting/analytics database solutions using modern techniques and programming language
  • Designs, develops, tests, monitors, manages, and validates data warehouse activity, including data extraction, transformation, movement, loading, cleansing and updating processes.
  • Consulting with internal and external clients to model enterprise-wide complex data structures including master data management
  • Will participate in multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Lead/Facilitate Governance for Enterprise Reporting to drive adoption and knowledge on self-service reporting and manage the power BI community.
  • Works harmoniously in a cross-functional team comprised of managers, supervisors, business analysts, systems personnel and other developers in ensuring the delivery of Datawarehouse solutions as planned, on time and within the budget
  • Develop and maintain the appropriate operational documentation for Datawarehouse and reporting solutions
  • Research, collect, validate, and collate data and information to design, direct, and support the development of accurate and meaningful Datawarehouse metrics reports.
  • Ensure the accuracy, performance and consistency of the Datawarehouse information
  • Perform health checks to ensure the integrity of the Datawarehouse data, and the synchronization of respective source systems.

 

Qualifications and Education Requirements

  • College Degree preferred. Equivalent experience, education and/or certifications may be considered in lieu of Bachelors.
  • 7 + years experience with degree  (3+ years leadership experience)
  • 15+ years relevant experience without degree

 

Skills

  • 7+ years in related role in addition to a bachelor’s degree in Information Systems, Management Information Systems, Computer Science, Statistics or related field. Demonstrated experience can be exchanged for the degree.
  • Must have Minimum 5 years in Power BI, data storytelling and knowledge of how people make decisions with data
  • Strong experience in solution design, integration architecture, and process improvement
  • Expert analysis, design skills and Power BI
  • Expert data modeling knowledge, including ER data models, and business intelligence dimensional models
  • Expert-level ability writing complex and performant queries in SQL
  • Rich understanding of data architectural and design patterns including normalized, dimensional, data vault, and multi-dimensional approaches.
  • Expert-level in building and implementing OLAP databases multidimensional and tabular. Experience with MDX is preferred.
  • Nice to have Experience in developing predictive models and machine learning solutions utilizing R or Python.
  • Researches and prototypes technical solutions for data warehouse architecture, ETL, cubes and analytics. Provides recommendations to Executive and IT leadership.
  • Ability to concisely document and express data architectures and standards that can be readily understood and applied by both IT leadership and developers.
  • Willingness to learn and experiment with technologies outside of his/her comfort area.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work with all levels of personnel individually and within teams. Good communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Excellent project, organization change and financial management skills.
  • Maintain library of model documents, templates, or other reusable knowledge assets.
  • Create or review technical design documentation to ensure the accurate development of reporting solutions.
  • Generate standard or custom reports summarizing business, financial, or economic data for review by executives, managers, clients, and other stakeholders.
