Hussmann Adds A2L Refrigeration Systems and Merchandisers to Product Line Up

New Low GWP Options in Evolve Technologies Portfolio

April 28, 2026

BRIDGETON, MO (USA), April 28, 2026 – Hussmann, a Panasonic company, now offers a line of A2L solutions for commercial refrigeration applications. A2Ls are the latest addition to its Evolve Technologies portfolio of Low Global Warming (GWP) solutions. Hussmann is first to market in North America for outdoor distributed A2L refrigeration systems as well as the first refrigeration company to offer a complete store solution from compressorized systems, condensing units, evaporators and condensers to a broad range of merchandising case options.

What are A2Ls?

A2L refrigerants are a class of refrigerant blends designed to deliver a significantly lower GWP than many existing HFC refrigerants while maintaining performance in conventional systems. Common options used in refrigeration, such as R-454C and R-454A, are manufactured blends that are compliant with federal regulations under the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) AIM Act. As a result, A2Ls offer a practical, cost-effective and technician-friendly solution for both new systems and remodels. They provide a more efficient alternative to higher-GWP refrigerants while also serving as a viable option in addition to natural refrigerants such as CO or R-290—all while working within familiar system designs.

“The launch of our first A2L commercial refrigeration systems and merchandisers is an important step in helping our grocery and convenience customers navigate the industry’s transition to next-generation refrigerants,” says Tim Figge, CEO, Hussmann Corporation. “We’re committed to delivering innovative, reliable solutions that make it easier for retailers to adopt sustainable technologies while continuing to operate more efficiently. This milestone reflects our focus on supporting our customers with forward-looking refrigeration solutions that meet both today’s needs and tomorrow’s requirements.”
