Hussmann Launches Low GWP Solution—Monoblock Provides Innovative Cooling for Retailers
BRIDGETON, MO (USA), September 25, 2023 – Hussmann, a Panasonic company, has launched its newest cooling solution, the Krack Air and Water-Cooled Monoblock, an all-in-one condensing unit and evaporator solution using R290 refrigerant. The Monoblock addresses AIM regulations with its innovative air and water-cooled design.
The self-contained Monoblock is pre-charged with propane—requiring no refrigerant piping. This leading-edge technology is the first of its kind to be released in North America and is designed with energy efficient variable speed compressors, EC fan motors and hot gas defrost. The Monoblock reduces full store refrigerant charge by up to 95% versus using hydrofluorocarbon (HFC) refrigerants and reduces total annual CO2 emissions by 6% when compared to a condensing unit and evaporator.
Ease of Install and Serviceability
The Monoblock is easy to install—just plug and power up to provide medium or low temperature refrigeration. Stores looking for retrofit solutions can easily install the Monoblock in as little as two to three hours. This is a smart alternative to having to replace an existing rooftop condensing unit and evaporator. The Monoblock does not require cranes or additional piping – it simply installs directly on to the cooler.
Low GWP Refrigerant
Compared to a traditional condensing unit using HFC refrigerants such as R404A, the Monoblock uses R290 (propane) and has a low Global Warming Potential (GWP) of 3 that address both federal and state level current and future regulations. Both the Air or Water-Cooled options are available and complies with CARB, NSF, UL, and is AIM Act compliant.
